We are eagerly anticipating the 2025 Computing, Math, and Science 3MT competition!

3MT, meaning “Three-Minute Thesis,” is an annual event that challenges students working on a graduate degree to present their thesis in just three minutes.

The judges critique participants based on how well they do the following:

  1. Explain their research
  2. Spark the audience’s desire to know more
  3. Communicate using language that's “appropriate to an intelligent but non-specialist audience.”

The College of Computing, Math, & Science competition will be held Friday, February 28, 2025 from 11am-1pm in WSC 3380. Each college on campus holds a preliminaray competition, and one student from each college advances to the university-wide final round (date TBA.)

For the college round, the prizes are as follows:

  • 1st place: $1,000
  • 2nd place: $750
  • 3rd place: $500
  • Honorable mentions: $50 each
