The Honor Code: More than Shaving and Modest Dress

Have you ever recorded your own class attendance, kept test answers a secret, or received a grade based on your word alone? These experiences are common at BYU, but they don’t happen everywhere.

During BYU’s annual Honor Week, students celebrate the Honor Code not only as a set of appearance guidelines, but more importantly, as a high standard for morality. We celebrate BYU’s unique culture of academic trust, accountability, and character, which has been cultivated through adherence to core Honor Code principles such as honesty, kindness, and integrity.

The theme of this year’s Honor Week, which will take place from February 8 – 12, is “Honor is Deliberate.” BYUSA will host the following activities:

#getyourhonoron Instagram Contest

Monday, February 8, 10:30am-1:30pm

Honor Week volunteers all over campus will have cameras and oversized Instagram posters with which students and faculty can take pictures. Those who post their pictures to Instagram, Facebook, and other social media outlets can win free Honor Week t-shirts.

Why Do You Love the Honor Code?

Tuesday, February 9, 10:30am-1:30pm

Students can fill out pieces of paper with their answers to the question, “Why do you love the Honor Code?” in exchange for treats and t-shirts. The messages will be displayed in the library the following week.

The Wall Variety Show

Perform or watch other students perform in a variety show at The Wall. If you’re interested in performing, contact McKenna Hawkins at 509-630-2128 or by email at mckennahawkins@yahoo.com
