Fall brings colorful leaves, chilly nights, and—explosions? It does at the “Sounds to Astound” shows!

The BYU Acoustics Club is pleased to announce Sounds to Astound an acoustics show exploring waves, resonance, and decibels.   The shows will be held in C215 of the BYU Eyring Science Center on November 7 at 7 p.m., November 8 at 2 p.m., and November 10 at 6 p.m.  All shows are free and open to the public. Tickets are free but should be reserved ahead of time online at sounds.byu.edu. Those attending the event are asked to arrive five to ten minutes early.

See demonstrations on the power of sound, including dancing flames and exploding balloons! In addition to the demonstrations, visitors may stay after the show for a tour of BYU’s anechoic chamber—a unique facility used to measure sound waves. .

Sounds to Astound is sponsored by the BYU Student Chapter of the Acoustical Society of America, the BYU College of Physical and Mathematical Sciences, and the Department of Physics and Astronomy.
