Runners from around Utah will gather to compete in the 21st annual Rex Lee Run Against Cancer at BYU on March 12, 2016. All registration fees will fund cancer research fellowships at BYU’s Simmons Center for Cancer Research.

The 5K will begin at 9:15 a.m. and the 10K will begin at 9:00 a.m. Both races will start at the BYU Outdoor Track. Participants can register online here.

Community members are also encouraged to participate in the “Runners Remember” campaign. They can share stories and memories of family and friends affected by cancer by emailing rexleerun@byu.edu or posting on social media using the hashtag #rexleerun. Runners may also register to donate $10 and honor a cancer fighter by wearing a certificate with that person’s name during the race.

The Rex Lee Run was first held in 1996 in honor of BYU president Rex Lee, who passed away from cancer that year. Since that first year, the Rex Lee Run has raised more than $400,000 for cancer research. The 2015 race had a record-breaking 1,800 participants.

Race participants who register before 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 10 can pick up their race bibs and T-shirts on Friday, March 11 between 10 a.m. and 7 p.m. at the Cougareat in the Wilkinson Student Center on BYU campus. Race materials will also be available for pickup the morning of the race at the BYU Outdoor Track from 7:15 to 8:40 a.m.

Adult runners should bring a picture ID and be prepared to sign a race waiver. Adult guardians may pick up bibs and t-shirts for minors.
