Biography
I am from Loveland Colorado, but spent 10 years as a postdoctoral researcher and then staff scientist at Los Alamos National Laboratory. I graduated with my PhD in physics and certificate of optics from the University of Colorado at Boulder. I worked for a brief time in industry at Advanced Micro Devices. I graduated with a BS in physics from Brigham Young University in 2004. I served a mission in the Ecuador Quito mission.
Research Interests
I work on developing high resolution x-ray imaging of materials in extreme conditions. We use a technique known as lenless or coherent diffraction imaging where we measure the scattered light from an object and use computer image reconstruction algorithms to form high resolution images. We perform these imaging experiments at various x-ray light sources around the world.Teaching Interests
I am passionate about getting people interested in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). I love to show students that STEM careers are in demand in the USA and around the world, and that they can have a successful and rewarding career in STEM. I love teaching general education and introductory science and physics courses that get people interested in STEM. I also enjoy teaching topical classes on optics and data science involved in phase retrieval algorithms.Education
