Biography
Dr. Wilkerson graduated from BYU in 1994 with B.S. and M.S. degrees in Accounting with an Information Systems emphasis, and from the University of Arizona in 2008 with a Ph.D. in Management Information Systems. Prior to entering his Ph.D. program, he worked for ten years as a software engineer and software engineering consultant. He founded The Object Center during this time—a software consulting company focused on object technology and Java-based web development.
Dr. Wilkerson spent six years as an MIS professor at Penn State, Erie, where he taught systems analysis and advanced application development courses, and performed academic research on software engineering methods to reduce software defects. He became a Sun Certified Java instructor in 1998 and co-founded the Utah Java Users Group in 1999.
Dr. Wilkerson’s other roles have included Senior Development Manager and Software Engineering Director. He has performed consulting services for businesses and government agencies of all sizes, from small startups to fortune 500 companies. His consulting and training clients have included the U.S. Department of Defense, several state and local government agencies in Utah and Texas, and over 20 business organizations--including Lockheed Martin, Raytheon Missile Systems, GMAC, J.P. Morgan Chase, and Iomega.
